Dear colleagues,
The Chinese sedimentological community and the organizing committee cordially invite you to the 21st International Sedimentological Congress (21st ISC), which will be held, for the first time, in Beijing, China, during August 22–26, 2022.
ISCs are sponsored by the International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) every four years. The 21st ISC, “A new journey of sedimentology: from the Pacific to the Himalaya”, aims to gather participants from all over the world to discuss and share the most recent advances in sedimentology. The five-day event offers oral and poster presentations in themed sessions, multiple mid-congress one-day field trips, short courses, and workshops. A series of pre- and post-congress field trips will also be organized in some of the most geologically interesting areas in China.
Due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to people throughout the world, the organizing committee is planning the 21st ISC as a hybrid meeting, combining both in-person and virtual participation.
Beijing, the capital city of China, has over three thousand years of history and seamlessly combines nature, culture, history, and modernization. Beijing has the most World Heritage Sites of any city in the world. Participants will be awed by the majesty of the mountains northwestern of the city, and enchanted by the classical ambiance and metropolitan vigor.
We are also pleased to offer a variety of virtual options to those unable to attend the meeting in person, to provide participants with options for managing schedules and participating remotely.
We look forward to you joining us in Beijing and online in 2022!
The Organizing Committee of 21st ISC
